Jorge Godoy, a player from Barrio Quinta, was detained after punching arbitrator Hugo Walter Masuelli during the match. The police were present and quickly took Godoy to the 2nd Police Station in Capitán Bermúdez. Masuelli received medical attention at the scene and was later taken to a local health centre for further treatment. The cause of the detention was listed as "lesiones leves" (minor injuries).

The match between Barrio Quinta and Santa Catalina was suspended due to the incident. Barrio Quinta has since issued a statement condemning the attack and expressing solidarity with Masuelli. The club described the behaviour as "absolutely inadmissible" and reaffirmed its commitment to respect, fair play, and coexistence. Godoy was released from detention after several hours and will have to appear before the Ministerio Público de la Acusación (MPA) on August 12, 2026.
