According to reports, João Cancelo has agreed a three-year contract with Barcelona. The 32-year-old Portugal international previously spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Barcelona and returned again in January of this year for a second loan spell. This is the third time Cancelo has joined the club. He will provide competition for Alejandro Balde and youngster Jordi Pesquer at left-back.
Cancelo is a versatile player who can play on either side of the back four, or even as a winger. He has won four of Europe's top five leagues, including the Spanish top flight, the Premier League, Serie A, and the Bundesliga, as well as the Primeira Liga in Portugal. Barcelona have signed Cancelo as their fifth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, and Rodri.
