According to Football Italia, Inter have strengthened their team this summer, bringing in three English players: John Stones on a free transfer, Djed Spence in a €35m deal from Tottenham and Curtis Jones from Liverpool for a similar fee. The Nerazzurri have also brought Aleksandar Stanković back from Club Brugge, while releasing Yann Sommer, Matteo Darmian, Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi at the end of their contracts. This transfer activity has further solidified Inter's position as the team to beat in Serie A.
Inter's attacking department has remained untouched, which is hardly surprising given that they were the most prolific team in Serie A in the 2025-26 campaign, scoring 89 goals. They also had the best scorer in the league, Lautaro Martinez, who netted 17 times in Serie A last term. The Argentine striker's goal-scoring form will be crucial in Inter's bid to retain the Scudetto.
While Inter are the main favourites, no Serie A club has retained the Scudetto in the last seven seasons, making the title race particularly open. Juventus, Napoli, Milan and Roma appear to be Inter's main rivals, but other clubs have had a solid transfer window, especially Como and Fiorentina. The Serie A season is always full of surprises and exciting twists, and this year's campaign promises to be no different.
The next step for Inter will be to see how they perform in their opening match of the season, which is expected to be a closely contested affair.
