In a post-match press conference, Marselha coach Bruno Genesio stated that the injury was believed to be a torn ankle, but that further information from the team's medical department was needed. However, Paixão was seen putting his hand on his knee, suggesting that the injury may be more serious than initially thought.
This is not the first time Paixão has suffered an injury this season, having previously been sidelined before making a quick return to the pitch.
