talkSPORT's Darragh MacAnthony believes that record will now be out of reach for Kane even if he returns to England in the future. "Bayern Munich don't need money, so what are you going to pay to get their No.9 and probably the Ballon d'Or winner this year out the building, even at 34 or 35 years old?" MacAnthony explained. "Spurs aren't going to pay £60-70million - giving [Bayern] their money back, are they? So I'm not shocked he's extended."
Kane's decision to stay at Bayern may also delay any potential return to the Premier League in the future. He is the division's second leading scorer of all-time thanks to his 213 top-flight goals for Spurs. However, his current form and age may make it difficult for him to break Shearer's record, even if he returns to England in the future.
The news will delight Bayern fans, given it comes after Kane won a third successive golden boot. His overall tally for the club now stands at 146 goals in 147 appearances. Kane is fresh from scoring 61 goals in 51 matches for Bayern across all competitions last season, launching himself into Ballon d'Or contention. He continued his form into the World Cup, scoring six times for England as they finished third overall.
