The brawl occurred in the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms after the first half of the match between IJsselmeervogels and GVVV. According to VoetbalPrimeur, IJsselmeervogels player Quiermo Dumay suffered seven broken teeth as a result of the altercation. GVVV subsequently sacked both Dennis van Beukering and Jhon van Beukering, who is a former professional footballer with experience at Feyenoord and NEC.
The disciplinary committee of the KNVB has now decided not to punish the clubs for the incident, despite the severity of the brawl. IJsselmeervogels' secretary Gerrit Kok expressed relief at the decision, stating that the club hopes the individuals responsible for the violence will be held accountable. The case of Jhon van Beukering is being investigated separately, with the KNVB having imposed a provisional suspension of 60 days. A definitive ruling is expected to follow at a later date.
