Cody Gakpo suffered an injury in the Nations League match against Serbia and will return to Liverpool. The 27-year-old forward left the game in Belgrade after 15 minutes following a tackle by Sasa Lukic. Ruben van Bommel replaced him, while the exact severity of the injury remains unclear.

Gakpo will miss Thursday's away match against Greece and the home game against Serbia on Sunday 4 October. Head coach Xavi Hernández will not call up a replacement, with Noa Lang still available as an option on the left.

Gakpo is not the first player to withdraw during this international period. Donyell Malen and Justin Kluivert had already pulled out, while Brian Brobbey and Lutsharel Geertruida also became unavailable.
