Fred, a 33-year-old midfielder, has agreed to join Atlético-MG, a move that was made possible after the club paid 2 million euros to sign him immediately. The Brazilian had previously agreed to join Atlético-MG, but Fenerbahçe made it difficult for him to leave. Fred has maintained contact with Atlético-MG players Renan Lodi, Léo Duarte, and Bernard during his negotiations with the club.
Fred has a strong connection to Atlético-MG, having grown up supporting the club in Belo Horizonte, where he was born. He has played for several top European clubs, including Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine and Manchester United in England. Fred has also played for the Brazilian national team in two World Cups: 2018 and 2022.
Fred will be presented to the fans at the Arena MRV on Wednesday, where he will watch the game against RB Bragantino in the Sul-Americana.
