The deadline for the delayed payments was February 28, 2026, but the Fluminense club was unable to settle the debts on time. The ANSREF considered the club's self-reporting as an attenuating factor, as the infractions were recognized in the club's own Declaration of Solvency. This auto-denunciation helped to alleviate the case.
The Fluminense club has already addressed the problems mentioned and is following the progress of the cases. In a statement, the club said: "As noted by the ANSREF itself in its manifestation, the Fluminense has made all efforts to adapt to the new financial fair play guidelines. The problems pointed out have already been addressed, and the club is closely monitoring the progress for the conclusion of the cases."
The ANSREF's decision can be appealed within 10 working days, which has now passed. The agency's recent creation in November 2025 as an independent body to oversee financial fair play in Brazilian football has led to other clubs, such as São Paulo and Grêmio, being punished for more serious infractions.
