Former Argentina internationals Javier Pastore, Javier Zanetti, and Esteban Cambiasso have joined the likes of Fabio Cannavaro and Roberto Carlos in supporting Infantino. Cannavaro, a 2006 Ballon d'Or winner and current selector of Uzbekistan, took to Instagram to express his backing for the Swiss president. "In the last ten years, football has improved," he wrote. "Players and women have returned to the centre of attention. Gianni Infantino has done an excellent job as FIFA President. Not to acknowledge this would be intellectually dishonest."
Cafu, another icon of the 1990s and 2000s, has also shared a similar statement on his account, which was re-shared by Roberto Carlos. His former Seleçao teammate added: "100% in agreement, captain." The New Caledonia and Tahiti have also reaffirmed their support for Infantino, who is seeking re-election.
