talkSPORT Football revealed that Nwaneri is expected to leave the Gunners before the end of the transfer window. The club's academy graduate made just four starts across 12 appearances for Arsenal in the first half of last season after falling out of favour. Nwaneri became the youngest player in Premier League history upon making his first-team debut against Brentford in 2022, aged 15 years and 181 days.
Nwaneri's loan spell at Marseille last season was meant to be a chance for him to develop under Roberto De Zerbi. However, De Zerbi left the club, and Nwaneri found himself out of the team. In nine Ligue 1 appearances, Nwaneri scored twice and registered one assist. He now has six Premier League goal involvements in 2024/25, compared to zero last season.
Bayer Leverkusen have a pre-existing relationship with Arteta's Arsenal, having sanctioned the £34.5m exit of Piero Hincapie. Leverkusen already have a No.10 in their squad, but they are looking for a right-sided, left-footed player, which could be a good fit for Nwaneri. Leverkusen are also looking to do a deal to bring Moussa Diaby back from Saudi Arabia.
