Park Bench, an English investment firm led by poker professional James Bord, has taken control of the club from Gerard Lopez for just €1 (86p). Bord previously attempted to purchase Sheffield Wednesday but ultimately saw the takeover collapse. He has since shifted his focus to Bordeaux, with the deal announced at the Tribunal de Commerce.

The sale of the club will result in a renegotiation of its debts, which will need to be paid over 12 years. Bordeaux's debt currently sits at €26m (£22m), but will be reduced to €13m (£11m) as part of the deal. Fans of the club will hope that this acquisition sparks life back into the team, which has endured a tumultuous few years and was forced to renounce its professional status in July 2024.
