The 24-year-old Irishman scored 51 goals in 97 appearances for AZ, also providing 17 assists during his time with the club. Parrott joined AZ two years ago, when they acquired him from Tottenham Hotspur. He had a contract with AZ for another three years. NOS Voetbal reports that Real Betis paid around €20 million for Parrott's services. The Spanish club finished fifth in La Liga last season and qualified for the Champions League group stage. It remains to be seen whether AZ will look for a replacement for Parrott, who won the KNVB-beker with the club last season. AZ still have two strikers in their squad, Mexx Meerdink and Jizz Hornkamp.
