João Vitor has experience, having played 27 matches and provided three assists for Portuguesa this year. He was also named the best right-back in the Paulistão. With João Vitor's arrival, Avaí has now signed four new players for the defensive department, including goalkeeper Bruno Ferreira and centre-backs Pedrão and Reynaldo.
The signing of João Vitor is expected to strengthen Avaí's defence, which faces a challenging season in Série B. Avaí has already signed forward Felipe Vizeu, formerly of Flamengo, and right-back Léo Chú, who joins on loan until the end of the season.
