Nedeljkovic had featured heavily in Villa's pre-season preparations and was among the substitutes during the Super Cup. However, the 20-year-old has struggled for minutes behind Matty Cash at Villa, making just 10 competitive appearances for the club since signing from Red Star Belgrade in January 2024.
The Serbian's departure will help free up space in the squad for Villa to pursue West Ham right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Villa's pursuit of Wan-Bissaka is at an advanced stage, with the Hammers valuing the 29-year-old at £25million. Wan-Bissaka is available following West Ham's relegation from the Premier League last season and has yet to feature for the Hammers this term.
Villa have identified a right-back to provide competition for Matty Cash as a key area for improvement this summer. Wan-Bissaka has made 65 appearances for West Ham and could provide the necessary depth and quality to Villa's backline. The 29-year-old featured 49 times for Villa last season, 45 of which were starts, and could be a valuable addition to the squad.
Villa's pursuit of Wan-Bissaka continues what has been an extremely busy summer for the club. The team has already seen the departures of Morgan Rogers, Lucas Digne, and Youri Tielemans, with Rogers moving to Chelsea for £117m, a fee which made him the most expensive British player of all time. Villa have since moved swiftly to replace the trio, with Johan Manzambi joining in a club record deal from Freiburg, Joao Gomes arriving from Wolves, and Alejandro Garnacho linking up from Chelsea on a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy.
Villa begin their 2026/27 Premier League campaign on Sunday away at Brighton, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm.
