The pair have been identified as potential replacements for the departing Ezri Konsa, who is closing in on a move to Arsenal. Villa are preparing for life without the England centre-back, who is set to undergo a medical with Arsenal on Thursday before completing his switch. The Gunners have agreed a deal in principle worth in excess of £50million with their Premier League rivals.

Aston Villa are now looking to bring in a replacement to restore their central defensive options. Amongst their targets is Chelsea's Tosin, who has previously been eyed by Benfica this summer. The 28-year-old's Stamford Bridge future is currently unclear after he was stripped of his squad number by the club. Tosin previously wore the No.4 shirt, which has now been handed to new signing Valentin Barco.

Tosin, who has less than two years remaining on his current deal, joined the club from Fulham on a free transfer in 2024. Last season saw the former England youth international make 16 Premier League appearances during a campaign disrupted by hamstring and calf injuries. Tomori is also a centre-back target for Villa after he was transfer listed by Milan. The Chelsea academy graduate joined the Italian giants in 2021 after impressing on loan at the San Siro.

Villa transfer plans indicate that a new centre-back is a priority for the club, with Konsa's departure set to leave Unai Emery with limited options in the position. Pau Torres, Victor Lindelof and Tyrone Mings are amongst just four recognised central defenders at his disposal. The quartet is completed by Modou Keba Cisse, a 21-year-old signed from Austrian champions LASK earlier this summer.

Aston Villa begin the new season away to Brighton on Sunday, with kick-off at 2pm. Unfortunately for Villa supporters, though, Alejandro Garnacho is a doubt to face the Seagulls, whilst Joao Gomes and Johan Manzambi have been ruled out.
