Arsenal are 10 points behind leaders Manchester City in the Women's Super League, with only five matches into the season. This poor start has sparked concerns over manager Renee Slegers' position at the club. Slegers has been at the helm since leading Arsenal to the Women's Champions League title in 2025.

The Gunners have won just two of their opening seven matches in all competitions and sit 10th in the WSL table. Slegers has maintained that she remains the right person to lead the club, despite the obvious concerns. "All I know so far is that the last couple of days we have been together as a club, and a team," she said. "We have been aligned in the direction. Of course, this result is disappointing but I'm here and I'm full of energy. I care a lot for the club and the players. I see perspective."

Arsenal will look to regroup during the international break, with Slegers planning a review of the team's season so far. The club has invested in new signings, including England international Georgia Stanway and Spain full-back Ona Batlle.
