No Contract Issues
Arne Slot has denied speculation surrounding the duration of his potential contract as Oranje manager. In an interview with AD, Slot stated that the KNVB's suggestion that he would only commit to the team until the European Championship in the UK was "onzin" (nonsense). Slot explained that the two parties never reached a point in the negotiations where they discussed contract length.
Club Football Priority
Slot has made it clear that his preference is to work in club football. He believes that being a national team coach does not allow for the same level of daily interaction with players that he experiences in club football. This was the main reason he chose not to continue the discussions with the KNVB.
Past Successes
Slot has had success in his coaching career, leading Feyenoord and Liverpool to victories. However, his time at Liverpool was cut short after a disappointing second season, and he was subsequently let go.
Future Possibilities
Although Slot has ruled out the Oranje job for now, he has not completely closed the door on the possibility of working with the national team in the future. He expressed his respect for the KNVB and the national team, and acknowledged that it would be an honor to represent his country as a coach one day.
Other Candidates
The KNVB had initially considered Slot, Peter Bosz, and Erik ten Hag for the role of Oranje manager. However, both Bosz and ten Hag were not available for the position.
