Amrabat Returns to Eredivisie After Eight-Year Absence

Sofyan Amrabat has returned to the Eredivisie after an eight-year absence, according to Voetbal International. The 30-year-old midfielder signed a two-year contract with Ajax in late August.

Amrabat, who had more options, revealed that Juventus showed concrete interest on the day he signed with Ajax. However, he decided to join the Amsterdam club immediately after terminating his contract with Fenerbahçe. The main reason behind his decision was the winnaarsmentaliteit (winners mentality) of Ajax's technical director Jordi Cruijff, who convinced him to join the club. Amrabat, who is also a winner, was drawn to Cruijff's ambition to become champions, win the cup, and progress in Europe.

Amrabat had previously known Cruijff from a few years ago, when the Ajax director tried to lure him to Barcelona. The midfielder felt that it would be great to join Ajax and help the club win titles again, which has been a long time coming. According to Amrabat, Cruijff's message had a significant impact on his decision, which ultimately led him to join the Eredivisie after an eight-year absence.

Amrabat will now be looking to help Ajax regain their title-winning form, a goal that he believes is achievable with the right mentality. The next step for Amrabat will be to prove himself in the Eredivisie and contribute to Ajax's success.
