Sofyan Amrabat, who joined Ajax this summer, has given an interview to Voetbal International. Amrabat made the transfer to Amsterdam after a conversation with Jordi Cruijff in April. "The first conversation with Jordi Cruijff was in April," Amrabat said. "It was a very pleasant and nice conversation. He told me about his plans, that he wanted to bring in a few top players."
Cruijff had previously tried to sign Amrabat for FC Barcelona, but the midfielder had to decline the offer at the time. Amrabat maintained a good relationship with Cruijff and was happy to join Ajax when he was approached again. "It was like we were old friends," Amrabat said.
Amrabat also praised Cruijff's work in bringing in other top players, such as Julian Brandt. "I think that if there had been a different technical director, not all these players would have come," he said. "Ajax is a fantastic club, but the overall picture has to fit."
