A New Chapter for Putellas
Alexia Putellas has signed for London City Lionesses this summer, marking a significant move in her career. The two-time Ballon d'Or winner has left behind the Champions League to join the independent women's-only club in its infancy. Putellas has won 38 trophies with Barcelona, including 10 league titles and four European cups.
Adapting to Life in England
Putellas is still learning the English language and has a better grasp of it than she realises. Her manager Eder Maestre says she is like a secondary coach on the training pitch and has the ability to conduct the way the team plays. Putellas has also been trying to adapt to the English way of life, including trying a full English breakfast and learning to drive in London.
Focus on the Upcoming Season
Putellas is 100% committed to London City Lionesses and is hungry to win and be better day after day. She has given up Champions League football to join the club, but believes that her mentality and the project can coexist. Putellas is looking forward to the season opener against Manchester United on 4 September and is ready to perform for her new team.
