Ajax won the Conference League ticket after a goal-rich win over FC Sion. The Amsterdam club won 5-3 in the Johan Cruijff Arena, following a 4-2 victory in the first match in Switzerland. NOS Voetbal reports that Ajax's win, combined with FC Twente's earlier victory, means two Dutch clubs will compete in the Conference League.

Ajax's Tolu Arokodare was preferred over Marcos Leonardo by trainer Míchel, and it proved to be a good choice. Arokodare scored the first goal after just one minute, and Ajax went on to win the match 5-3. Ajax was defensively vulnerable, however, and Sion took the lead 1-2 with the help of Marc ter Stegen. Ajax eventually recovered to win the match, with Arokodare scoring two goals and Davy Klaassen and Baas also scoring for the Amsterdam club.
