Konadu, a 20-year-old striker, played 17 times for Ajax's first team, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists. He went through a large part of Ajax's youth development after being scouted from Zeeburgia. By sending Konadu to Lommel, Ajax is giving him more playing time, while also creating financial space. Voetbalzone reports that Konadu's departure will save Ajax around 700,000 euros in salary.
This financial saving comes on top of the salary of Ahmetcan Kaplan, which will also be removed from Ajax's books soon. NEC is set to take over the defender for a fixed fee of 2.5 million euros, which can increase to a maximum of 3 million euros via bonuses. This will save Ajax an additional 1.3 million euros in salary. Voetbalzone notes that Ajax has sold players for approximately 95 million euros this transfer period, including the transfer of Mika Godts to Paris Saint-Germain.
Ajax hopes to create more space in its salary budget by moving other players, including Owen Wijndal, Josip Sutalo, Ko Itakura, and Kasper Dolberg, to other clubs. The club has already taken Jofre Torrents on a free transfer from FC Barcelona, with performance bonuses that could increase the total amount to less than 6 million euros.
